If snow happens, it happens, but you intentionally wanting to 'take back the holiday' that isn't actually yours just to get people to notice you sounds kind of bratty and egotistical.
Make your own. Or just have a snow day. In August. Why you have to have it be on a holiday to have people notice is what I don't understand. Someone will notice it snowing in summer more than closer to winter. People might welcome a snow day in summer. Especially if you advertise.
