[ it's hard not to be curious about a statement like that. what kind of savage? not because he doubts that Solas is capable of terrible things, he's hardly naïve enough to think anyone can be exempt from that; he just can't get a clear idea of it in mind. there are humans that would call what Jack does savage, he's sure, with his blizzards and his killing cold; or Pitch Black with his fear and darkness and nightmares, the parts of him Jack never actually had a problem with. non-spirits don't have roles, they don't have purpose, so everything becomes morals and ethics to them.

but the topic is clearly an uncomfortable one, and Jack lets it drop without much concern. he isn't about to pry into every aspect of a person's long, long life, especially when he's not always open about his own. ]

Oh. Well, if— [ if you're sure, he intends to say, but Solas already gently admonished him for that, said that he doesn't make offers he doesn't mean.

it's just... people don't do this, they don't make any efforts to accommodate him. surely, if they expend their patience on needless things like this, they'll come to find him a nuisance all the more quickly. but there's no easy way for him to ask people to stop wasting their tolerance — he knows he'll probably just get that surprised, sad response like he's said something terrible. so he trails off and switches tack instead, feeling awkward. ]

... Okay. Um. Thanks. Or I could— I could come by now and help, if you want?
