I'm glad to hear it, however hypocritical that is of me. [ a beat, then in explanation: ] At your age, I was still.. somewhat wild. [ that's an understatement, really. of course, it had served him well enough in the end. ]

--Do you enjoy sleep? [ not 'do you need to sleep', because he doubts even a spirit like jack needs that sort of rest. but being more human-like than most spirits solas is familiar with, perhaps he enjoys it. ] I can make up a bed for your use if you think you'd like to have it.

[ goodness, he hasn't had to be a host in.. a very, very long time. his time with the inquisition had been different, of course. hosting mahanon or another occasional visitor had been a matter of having tea or wine for them and a chair. ]

[ there's a mild smile in his voice as he responds. ] It's difficult to believe now, perhaps, but I am much, much older than I was back then. [ the amusement fades, though, as he continues. ] .. I would not have wanted you to see that side of me, Jack. It was.. occasionally quite savage.

[ he clears his throat, though, moving on gladly. ]

Don't be silly. It's no trouble to make up a bed for you, especially if you intend to be here for more than a few hours at a time.

[ it's true-- the rules for spirits are different. a spirit does what's in its nature, and as an elemental, that's true also of jack. the cold is a part of him. for solas, the savagery had been a choice.. as it had been a choice to eventually set it aside. (he is not his origins. he must not be his origins.)

the hesitant question earns another small smile on his end, no matter that jack can't see it. ]

I would be glad of the company. [ a pause, then musingly: ] It's strange, I suppose. I enjoyed my solitude when I worked for the Inquisition, but now I seem to prefer companionship. [ perhaps because he knows what waits for him when he leaves this place. in the end, after all, what's left for him but death? he'll find his end one way or another, whether having forced the inquisitor's hand, or in the fall of the veil, or in facing the evanuris once more. it's selfish of him, but he wants to take what affection he can in this place, from people who have no idea what he truly is. (ever the deceiver, wolf.)

he shakes himself of the thoughts with some effort, taking a breath to steady himself. ]
The door will be open-- please let yourself in.
